It’s not what you’d call “the latest,” but it is news if you haven’t heard it before.
Dave Kales published a novel in 2004. Entitled The Phantom Pirate: Tales of the Irish Mafia and the Boston Harbor Islands, it is a roman à clef taking its cues from the career of the famed and now long-missing Whitey Bulger and his gang.
Dave is an expert on the Boston Harbor Islands, which are both places and characters of their own in his book.
Dave has promised that he will send a liberal excerpt from the novel for publication here. Meanwhile, we show the front cover of his novel below, as well as the back cover, which contains some tasty small excerpts (if you can read them).
